Have you just started your own business in trades, finished a couple of jobs, but have no idea what comes next? If you want a steady income throughout the whole year, you should learn some easy tricks how to promote yourself and boost your business.
At first it may take some time to give first results, but being patient will pay off. The key is to build a relationship with your clients, based on reliability and trust.
Don’t let it end up by a price quote
When you prepare a price quote for a potential client, don’t let it all end up in them saying they will think it through. Just ask them, if it is OK you will catch up with them in a week (or two weeks or a month — that depends on you). If they say yes, then make a note in your planner for the time you agreed. The day after you can e-mail them, or send a message, thanking them for their time and confirming the date you agreed on. When this catch-up date comes, give them a call.
Remember, that you should not seem desperate and needy, but make them feel like you care for them, and therefore you made time for them in your busy schedule. They would feel important and that is why they might even recommend your services further on.
After your job is done, don’t forget to text or e-mail your clients in 3 or 4 months, asking if everything is all right and reminding them that anytime they need anything, they can call you and you will do your best.
Don’t be shy and use every opportunity to collect new contacts, which can turn into future clients. Visit trade shows and fairs, talk to interesting colleagues and find out what’s new in your field.
Use social media to showcase your skills
Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and even YouTube are great places to show people all you are able to do. Pick your best projects and create a short video about it, or even just comparison of pictures from before and now. If you are a bit original, adding something witty or interesting, you will gain followers in no time. The more people will know about you, the more possible clients for you.
