Having heard of huge shortage of skilled workers maybe you too decided for a career switch. To find a suitable retraining was easy, but what should you do afterwards? What are the best ways how to find a job in your new field, and what steps should you definitely take?
Update your CV
Once you complete your training, don’t forget to update your resume with newly gained skills and abilities. Be sure that you mention the retraining institution in the education section and add all the certifications you possibly earned. Add also your new skills, including abilities to work with tools or machinery on which you trained. As a final touch you should add any relevant experience you have, or highlight those from your previous jobs, that you can apply in your new career as well.

Decide whether you want to be employed or self-employed
If you are convinced you will succeed, you can start as a self-employed tradesman right from the beginning. Although, if you want secured income, you might prefer to start your new career in a company. You might want to do some research of average salaries in your region in your new field. Then you will have a realistic image of how much you can possibly earn.
Boost your chances
If you want your career to be improved constantly, you should not be shy to seek for new opportunities and promote yourself a bit. LinkedIn might be one of the places to start and get valuable connections. But don’t let your efforts end up there: you can try networking in other social media.
Network not only virtually, but in person as well. Look up for local trade shows and events, which are a great opportunity to meet professionals from your field or even your future employers.
If you decided to be self-employed, be sure people can find you online by creating your Google My Business profile and eventually getting there as many positive reviews as possible.
